Zimmerman verdict in light of media misinformation (Video)

The country is reeling from George Zimmerman’s Not Guilty verdict Saturday, and the media continues to pummel the public with misinformation and emotional freakouts.  It’s no wonder violence has erupted three-days after-the-fact.  In light of a year’s worth of dishonest, race-baiting and misinformation on the part of the media, Al Sharpton, and the NAACP, is it any wonder that emotions are running so high about this case?  Meanwhile, Harry Reid is playing mob boss in the Senate using threats to destroy minority power in order to push key Obama appointments through.

Reid threatens filibuster rule change

Sen. Harry Reid is extorting appointment approval from Republicans by threatening to change the Senate filibuster rules.  Reid wants to change the Senate rules for the filibuster under a simple majority vote, again.

Democrats say the Senate has changed rules with simple-majority votes 18 times in the past 36 years. The last time was in October of 2011, when they voted to prevent Republicans from forcing votes on uncomfortable amendments after the chamber has moved to final passage of a bill.

The “filibuster showdown”  may be averted.  This is not cooperation or compromise, this is coercion.

Reid made clear on Monday that Republicans must allow all seven nominees to pass for him to remove his finger from the nuclear trigger.  He successfully threatened the Republicans to get agreement on appointments that establish a board that Republicans do not want in existence.  Otherwise, Republicans have confirmed 1,560 of Obama’s nominees and rejected only 4.

“[Republicans] object to the laws that set up the consumer protection bureau and the labor relations board. Opposing the CFBP because its funding is not subject to congressional discretion…”

Adding insult to injury, some of the very appointments Reid is angling for are the same appointments that Obama illegally made as “recess appointments” when the Senate was still in session — that were struck down in the courts.

Current Senate composition:  52 Democrats, 46 Republicans, and 2 Independents.

If they really want the board, then they shouldn’t change the Senate filibuster rules to get it enacted, they should compromise with Republicans and put the board funding under congressional control — where it belongs.

[T]he reality is that 84 percent of all votes to filibuster judicial nominees in American history have been cast by Democrats. For those same Democrats to claim Republican obstruction is the height of hypocrisy.

So, why have Senate Democrats resorted to such blatantly false accusations? The answer is simple. They would prefer to talk about imagined “obstruction” than rising gas prices and their own failed economic policies. They also seek to distract attention away from President Obama’s unconstitutional “recess” appointments.

George Zimmerman Verdict

Saturday, July 13, 2013, George Zimmerman was found Not Guilty of 2nd Degree Murder in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, 17, in Sanford, Florida, Feb. 26, 2012.

George Zimmerman is Not Guilty:  http://www.cbs3springfield.com/story/22787346/zimmerman-found-not-guilty

UPDATE:  Afterburner with Bill Whittle of PJ Media summarizes the media manipulation and selective reporting.

How did this happen?

If Jackson, Sharpton and the NAACP hadn’t jumped on the Trayvon Martin case and made it into a racial matter, nobody would have heard of it. His death would have gone unnoticed, just like the more than 500 black youths that were murdered in Chicago in black-on-black violence last year.  The attention on the Zimmerman trial is not about justice for Trayvon; it’s about intimidation and dividing the American people along race.

Black Racism Killed Trayvon Martin:  http://www.bondaction.org/content/article/37076/Black%20Racism%20Killed%20Trayvon)

The Media Narrative

Media lies and misinformation are the only reason this case went to trial.

Zimmerman was called a “White Hispanic,” a redundant emphasis on race, and referred to as a “self-proclaimed Hispanic,” as though he might not really qualify.

The most well-known media bias in this case lies in the pictures used to portray both Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman, school pictures of Martin at 13 (4 years old), and George Zimmerman’s mugshot from a bar fight when he was 21 (7 years ago):  http://www.ijreview.com/2013/07/65465-the-trayvon-martin-picture-the-mainstream-media-dont-want-you-to-see/

Two major networks twisted and misrepresented Zimmerman’s phone call to a 911 dispatcher, reflecting the disgusting reality of media manipulation and propaganda.  These two media lies were touted right after the shooting and continue to be inaccurately touted to this day.

The CNN Lie

CNN Reports it wrong:  http://youtu.be/YOt1wEDy0SI

George Zimmerman did not say ‘fucking coons’ in 911 call:  http://patdollard.com/2012/04/cnn-george-zimmerman-did-not-say-fucking-coons-in-911-call/

What Zimmerman said was unintelligible, and CNN should have never speculated what that statement was on the air.  They heard what they wanted to hear.

HLN host Nancy Grace spewed the inaccurate phrase as a fact just this past Saturday.

While speaking Saturday night with Trayvon Martin‘s family attorney, shortly before the verdict was read for George Zimmerman‘s acquittal, HLN host Nancy Grace said “fucking coons” live on-the-air while railing against what she considers to have been the defendant’s undeniable “hatred” for the teenager he shot.

“I’ll tell you what I think made a difference. When that 9-1-1 tape first came out — and everybody, get ready, this is graphic language — when it first came out that Zimmerman had said ‘fucking coon‘ on the 9-1-1 call, to me, that was open-and-shut that that showed open ill will and hatred. Now they’ve revised it to say he said ‘These punks, they always get away with it.’ I’m wondering if that reinterpretation of what he said made a difference as to a jury finding ill will in Mr. Zimmerman’s heart.”

Grace had repeatedly made reference to the “fucking coons” slur she believes Zimmerman clearly said during his call to the non-emergency line of the Sanford Police Department. In a recent interview with the defendant’s friend Joe Oliver, HLN bleeped the hostess out as she repeated the slur on-air, but for whatever reason, they opted not to do so this time around.  http://www.mediaite.com/tv/nancy-grace-says-fking-coons-uncensored-while-railing-against-zimmermans-hatred-for-trayvon/

No one revised the assumption that Zimmerman said “fucking coons” to “these punks always get away with it.”  Zimmerman did say “these assholes (listed as “expletive” in some transcripts) always get away with it,” but Grace’s assertion that they revised that specific statement is not true.

The NBC Lie

NBC News caught doctoring footage:  http://youtu.be/7RvnQJdPgLM

The 911 dispatcher asked the question specifically:  White, Black, or Hispanic?

I am still seeing comments from very emotional people who have not evaluated or even researched these charges, but who insist that George Zimmerman was blatantly racist, based specifically on these two reports.  The reason these people still think these lies are  facts is because the media has perpetuated them.

Zimmerman’s arrest

George Zimmerman was only arrested and charged with this crime for political reasons.  The authorities in Sanford deemed the case self-defense, which was confirmed by the jury, but the NAACP and the US Justice Dept got involved.

After public outcry and pressure from Martin’s family and the NAACP, the U.S. Justice Department launched an investigation into the shooting on March 19. Florida Governor Rick Scott appointed State Attorney Angela Corey to investigate.

Corey charged Zimmerman with second-degree murder on April 11, 2012, and turned himself in to authorities the same day.

The Agenda

Last year, Barack Obama told us if he had a son, he would look like Trayvon.  He issued a statement on this case again Sunday afternoon (7/14/13).

The death of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy.  Not just for his family, or for any one community, but for America.  I know this case has elicited strong passions.  And in the wake of the verdict, I know those passions may be running even higher.  But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken.  I now ask every American to respect the call for calm reflection from two parents who lost their young son.  And as we do, we should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to widen the circle of compassion and understanding in our own communities.  We should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis.  We should ask ourselves, as individuals and as a society, how we can prevent future tragedies like this.  As citizens, that’s a job for all of us.  That’s the way to honor Trayvon Martin.

Obama says honor Trayvon Martin by battling gun violence:  http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/07/14/19467556-obama-honor-trayvon-martin-by-battling-gun-violence?lite

That statement shouldn’t be controversial taken at face value.  However, in light of Obama’s push for gun control just this year, we have cause to question his motives.

The administration is commenting on this case because they want it to be a national story.  Divisiveness and polarization serve the agenda.

Eric Holder made his statement in a speech at the NAACP Convention in Florida Tuesday afternoon (7/16/13), blasting the Stand Your Ground Law.  He said that we should retreat when we feel threatened, rather than stand our ground.  We should allow the violent bullies and thugs in the world to intimidate and chase us into our homes.  George Zimmerman’s lawyers didn’t even use the Stand Your Ground Law as a defense, they themselves said they used a simple self-defense strategy.

Considering that Eric Holder believes it is his job to “brainwash” us against guns, it would seem to be a safe assumption that we can expect more government campaigning and legislation against 2nd Amendment rights.

We can already see the new theme arising from this case.  It’s not just about racism or guns, but specifically about the Stand Your Ground law.

City Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, a Democratic candidate to replace Mayor Michael Bloomberg in the November city elections, told reporters on the sidelines of the organized protests that Zimmerman’s acquittal should be a call to action.

He advocated for the repeal of both Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” law, which provides legal grounds for killing someone on the streets if you believe there is a real threat to your life, and the New York Police Department’s “Stop and Frisk” law-enforcement regime.

“He was lost for doing nothing. He was racially profiled and killed for doing nothing. [The Stand Your Ground] law needs to be struck down, and the [U.S.] Justice Department needs to go ahead right away and bring a civil-rights case,” he said. “[Stop and Frisk] relates because there’s racial profiling going on in this city everyday”

New York City Mayor Bloomberg (the guy who doesn’t trust you to drink soda) jumped into the issue as well.  Keep in mind when you see the next clip from MSNBC, that Angela Rye is a political strategist being interviewed — someone who makes a living being an opportunist, whose living is to manipulate situations and strategize for political purposes.

Bloomberg pushes gun control:   http://youtu.be/gUWm8-grLTs

Angela Rye, a political strategist, is all for politicizing this specific court case to push gun regulations.  Why not?  What a great time to make the most of a tragedy that destroyed one life and ended another.  Of course a political strategist thinks it’s appropriate to politicize a tragic shooting, even though it had nothing to do with the laws they are taking issue with!

This next clip is from Hannity Monday (7/15/13) interviewing George Zimmerman’s defense lawyers, Mark O’Mara and Don West.

GZ Lawyers Gun Control (2 clips):  http://youtu.be/I9a8CUGyDTc

We already know this administration won’t let a good crisis go to waste.  With the shooting at Sandy Hook elementary in Connecticut, gun regulations were about “the children.”  Now our gun control measures are going to be about race, which is ironic, considering this group of black conservatives trying to set the record straight on our history of left-wing demands for gun control.

7/15/13 – WREG — A jogger says three men attacked him in retaliation for the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial. The attack happened on Highway 51 in Senatobia, Miss., Sunday night. The victim told News Channel 3 and investigators the men drove up to him, asked him to get into their car, implying they had a gun The man says the men drove him miles away in silence before pulling him from their car and attacking him saying, “This is for Trayvon.” The man had a few cuts and scrapes and a bruised face. He was found on a deserted road between Senatobia and Coldwater, Miss.

The man, who is white, told police the men who attacked him are black.  http://youtu.be/VydaGvShltI

These random attacks are the worst.  They don’t know who they’re attacking.  That jogger had nothing to do with Trayvon Martin or George Zimmerman.  For all they know, they could be killing someone who is on their side and could be one more voice calling for Zimmerman’s head.  But because we have this frenzy building in the name of melanin, it doesn’t matter what the individual thinks.  They are getting beaten in the name of Trayvon Martin.  If that’s the kind of tribute that Trayvon Martin would like, then I wouldn’t care to memorialize him.

NAACP

Quick response from the NAACP.  The same day of Zimmerman’s Not Guilty verdict, the NAACP calls on President Obama to pursue civil rights charges against Zimmerman, which Eric Holder has agreed to investigate and do if legally possible.  The NAACP had this prepared, I’m guessing because they knew the jury wasn’t going to find for the prosecution, which is because they don’t have a case.  The state of Florida said from the very beginning that they didn’t have a case against Zimmerman for murder, but Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the NAACP called on the Obama Administration to intervene and charge Zimmerman anyway.  And that was all it took.

“Attorney General Eric Holder,” the petition reads, “The Department of Justice has closely monitored the State of Florida’s prosecution of the case against George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin murder since it began. Today, with the acquittal of George Zimmerman, it is time for the Department of Justice to act.”

The most fundamental of civil rights — the right to life — was violated the night George Zimmerman stalked and then took the life of Trayvon Martin,” the NAACP wrote. “We ask that the Department of Justice file civil rights charges against Mr. Zimmerman for this egregious violation.”

“Please address the travesties of the tragic death of Trayvon Martin by acting today,” the NAACP wrote.

The head of the NAACP and Attorney General Eric Holder have both expressed their admiration for one another.

NAACP president Benjamin Todd Jealous wrote an op-ed for The Hill June 17 entitled “Attack on Holder is attack on civil rights,” which praised Holder, the head of the Obama administration’s Justice Department.
