Revolution in Egypt

Summary:

  • January 2011, the Egyptians held nationwide demonstrations against the rule of President Hosni Mubarak.
  • Feb. 11, 2011, Mubarak stepped down after President Obama made it clear that America would not act to save his presidency.
  • June 2012, Morsi wins the Egyptian presidential election with 51.7% of the vote and takes office.
  • August 2012, Morsi ordered the retirement of the top Mubarak-era military leaders.
  • November 2012, Egypt’s churches and liberal representatives withdrew from the constitutional assembly in protest of attempts by Islamists to impose their theocratic will in it.  Morsi unilaterally decrees greater powers for himself, giving his decisions immunity from judicial review.
  • Islamists finish the constitution and set a date for referendum vote causing massive protests and attacks on anti-Morsi protesters.  With low voter turnout, the constitution was approved by a 63.8 percent vote in favor.  Protests and violence continued to rage.
  • June 30, 2013, millions of Egyptians took to the streets demonstrating, calling for Morsi to step down.
  • July 1, 2013, as large-scale demonstrations continue, the Egyptian military gives the two sides 48 hours to resolve their disputes before it imposes its own solution to the clash.
  • July 3, 2013, the military ousts Morsi, suspends the constitution, and imposes interim government.

Timeline of Egyptian Revolution 2013:  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/egypt/10156802/Egypt-timeline-from-revolution-to-the-current-crisis.html

From Mohamed Hawary published on Canada Free Press:

[T]he US administration swung the pendulum to the rhythm of the Muslim Brotherhood compass since the Jan 25 revolution, pressuring the army and the opposition to hand the country to the Islamist group on a silver platter. Every step of the way was marked by conflicting statements from the US administration serving the best interests of the Muslim Brotherhood. Statements that ranged from “this is not how mature democracies work” to “this is normal in a nascent democracy,” the goal seemed to always keep the MB on top.

The reason behind the US administration’s position appears to be common wisdom inside this administration that “Egypt is dominated by Islamists and that secular powers in Egypt are negligible”. It’s not a crime to be wrong, but the real crime for this administration, in my opinion, is being too dogmatic to not recognize sign after sign that their position is far from being an informed one. Indeed, given how oblivious the US administration and its ambassador in Egypt were,  it is no surprise that June 30, like Jan 25, has hit the US by surprise.  http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/56359

On July 6, Obama claimed that the US is not aligned with or in support of any particular Egyptian political party or group, and condemned the ongoing violence there in a telephone conference with the National Security Council, according to a statement the White House issued:

“The United States categorically rejects the false claims propagated by some in Egypt that we are working with specific political parties or movements to dictate how Egypt’s transition should proceed.  We remain committed to the Egyptian people and their aspirations for democracy, economy opportunity and dignity. But the future path of Egypt can only be determined by the Egyptian people.”  http://www.timesofisrael.com/obama-us-not-backing-any-egyptian-party-or-group/

What do the protesters in Egypt say?

Claiming that the mainstream media has completely ignored the swelling anti-Obama sentiment within the unrest in Egypt, blogger Doug Ross has compiled 15 photos that show protesters strongly condemning President Barack Obama and his administration.

“Consider the dichotomy: Obama 2011: Mubarak Must Go; Obama Today: ‘It’s not our job to choose who Egypt’s leaders are’,” he writes.

Who do you believe?   The president who has consistently lied to us, said one thing and done another, or the voices of millions of Egyptian people who stand against him specifically.

From an Egyptian in Alexandria

Here’s exactly what happened in Egypt over the past 12 months, but expressed in ‘American” terms…

There are no exaggerations or lies, these events all took place:
On June 30th 2012, democratically elected Barack Obama wins the election with 51.7%, takes the oath, and is sworn in as president of the United States.

First five months of his term go relatively smoothly, where he makes almost no decisions (except for some dubious presidential pardons to a dozen convicted terrorists, including some convicted for their part in the assassination of a former US President).

Suddenly, on November 21st 2012, president Obama issues a presidential decree giving himself sweeping powers, to the extent that his future decrees become un-contestable in any court, in effect his decisions henceforth are akin to the word of God.

His laws a new Bible…

Nationwide protests erupt as a result of this decree and 1.5 million people organize a sit-in at the White House to peacefully request he rescind it.

Some of Obama’s democratic party supporters attack the peaceful sit-in outside the White House with guns & shoot 5 peaceful protesters dead

A few weeks later president Obama dissolves the US Supreme Court and labels them all “traitors to America”

One short week later, he fires the United States District Attorney and personally appoints a Democrat to replace him.

A month later he annuls the US Constitution and forms a ‘constitutional committee’ to draft a new constitution (committee includes no Republicans or Independents, no Moslems or Jews, and only a handful of women.. And is composed primarily of Democrats & religious preachers)

In a referendum not supervised by any judicial branch, this constitution narrowly wins, and President Obama ratifies it the very next morning (despite it having only gotten the approval of 18% of all Americans).

Within a month he invites top global terrorists, known jihadists and Al Qaeda members from all over the world, to a rally in Yankee stadium, where he cuts ties with and declares war on, Canada.

Throughout this whole time, the US economy is sinking, the stock market collapsing, foreign investment has all but stopped, tourism has died, and electricity, fuel, and water shortages are a daily occurrence.

Unemployment has almost doubled, and the US$ dollar has lost 20% of its value globally.

Oh, and president Obama also outlines his new plans to lease the entire Silicon Valley area to China for 50 years (with full administrative control)…

Democratically elected president Barack Obama has done all the above in his FIRST YEAR IN OFFICE!!!

Ultimately, on June 30th, 2013…

110 million Americans take to the streets in 50 States peacefully and politely demanding -for 4 straight days- that democratically elected Obama leave immediately, and not continue his remaining 3 years….

That’s it in a nutshell

Who would you say had “legitimacy” in this case if it had been America?

“Democratically elected Barack Obama,” or the 110 million Americans who fired him … ?”

A few years prior to his presidency, Morsi delivered a speech urging Egyptians to “nurse our children and our grandchildren on hatred” of Jewish people. A few months later, he described Zionists as “descendants of apes and pigs” in a television interviewhttp://moneymorning.com/2013/07/05/morsi-conspiracy-obamas-strange-support-of-the-ousted-egyptian-tyrant/#comment-171503

By our values, when any government becomes tyrannical, we have an inalienable, God-given right – even an obligation – to overthrow the chains of tyranny.

Take a stand against Islamic radicalism in Egypt, by James Robbins:  http://rare.us/story/take-a-stand-against-islamic-radicalism-in-egypt/

It seems contradictory when freedom’s proponents take sides with the military to force an elected government from power. But when that government has become an instrument of oppression, then, as the Declaration of Independence says, “it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it.” Having the military on your side means the difference between a successful revolution and facing beheading for treason.

Last week, Egypt’s Islamist president Mohamed Morsi was ejected from office in what his supporters called a coup, and opponents called a popular revolt. Days later, events are quickly overcoming that semantic debate. The coalition that forced the Muslim Brotherhood from power has fractured, and the growing violence in Egyptian streets points towards chronic strife or civil war. Islamists lack the power to force a solution to the crisis, but they have enough muscle to initiate an insurgency, perhaps following the Algerian model. There, a conflict raged for eight years between the military government and the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS), after pro-Islamist election results were annulled in 1991. A word of caution for the Brothers – the FIS lost.

The Muslim Brotherhood had been playing a deceitful game in its quest to impose hard-line Islamist rule in the most populous Arab state. The Brothers had lied about their intentions for Egypt from the start of the Arab Spring. They said they were not going to be involved in politics, but only render spiritual advice. They pledged they would not organize a political party or field candidates. They said they would craft an inclusive, liberal constitution. They said the rights of women, religious minorities, journalists and political opponents would be protected. They said Egypt would prosper under their leadership. All of this was untrue….  Read More

Abortion in Texas

A minority party Democrat in the Texas Senate, Wendy Davis, filibustered proposed abortion law so the Senate would run out of time and be unable to take a vote.  Left-wingers are cheering this woman in Texas for stopping elected representatives from passing legislation at the very same time they are pissing and moaning about so-called “obstructionism” on the part of minority party Republicans filibustering legislation in the Senate.

A summary of the issue from Monday’s Bret Baier of Fox News…

CLIP:  Texas Abortion battle:

Every time we talk about regulations on abortion we are presented with a completely false narrative based on a completely false premise – a hysterical, fear-mongering “war on women” is declared and melodramatic feminists get militant and demand that unsafe abortion clinics be allowed to operate without the same scrutiny and regulation that we require of every other surgical medical procedure in the health care industry.

Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund vowed:

“It’s a fight we will win.  The nation is watching and we will defeat this again.  People don’t want politicians making women’s private medical decisions, cutting off access to life-saving preventive care or safe and legal abortion – and they absolutely will not stand for it.”

This is the standard abortion advocate argument.  Requiring abortion providers to adhere to safety regulation is somehow cutting off all access to “lifesaving preventative care or safe and legal abortion.”

What are these regulations?

House Bill 2 would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, require that the procedure be performed at ambulatory surgical centers, mandate that doctors who perform abortions obtain admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles and that even nonsurgical abortions take place in a surgical center.

Only five out of 42 clinics in Texas qualify as ambulatory surgical centers, and they are in major metropolitan areas. Many clinics would need to relocate to meet ventilation requirements and to have the space required for operating rooms and hallways.  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/03/texas-abortion-law_n_3538347.html

Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, has said that the Texas measure could lead to the closure of all but six of the state’s 42 abortion facilities. But the author of the Texas House bill, Representative Jodie Laubenberg, said that assertion is an exaggeration, and Perry, in his Sunday interview, called the proposed restrictions “common sense approaches.”  http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/07/08/us-usa-abortion-texas-idUSBRE9670BC20130708?feedType=RSS

We have regulations that dictate safe and clean conditions for ear piercing.  We have had regulations that dictate what kind of light bulb you can use in your own home.  We close down lemonade stands in children’s yards because of health codes and licensing.  But regulating an invasive medical procedure that takes human life and poses potential health risks to the mother is viewed as a heinous infringement on women in general.

We do not accept the same limits on abortion that we demand for much less important issues.  Any time the people of this country – through our elected representatives – have attempted to regulate the abortion industry, the efforts have been met by fear-mongering melodrama that any regulation whatsoever will end all abortion for eternity.

What are the regulations that are being fought here?

No abortions after 20 weeks.  After 20 weeks of gestation, which is half-way through a normal 40-week pregnancy, babies survive outside of the womb.  They take great incubation and care, but they live – without the mother at all.  When does it become a life worthy of our Founders’ declaration of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?

The procedures involved in killing a baby inside the womb after 20 weeks are very close to delivering the baby.  Except, as in one procedure, they inject a saline inside the womb that burns the baby alive, then they go through induced labor and delivery of the dead child.  After 20 weeks, an unborn baby has a nervous system and feels pain.  It isn’t even a humane way to kill somebody.  We treat violent murderers better than we do innocent babies.  We actually care that a raping, torturing, murderer dies painlessly with a lethal injection, but we don’t care if we allow innocent unborn babies to fry and suffer.

It’s disgusting.  The procedures are sickening.

Planned Parenthood and abortion activists can’t handle bringing the abortion issue into open discussion and debate.  In the face of abortion survivors, the likes of Kermit Gosnell, or the simple facts of the procedures, all they can do is chant about their own bodies and their rights to kill people without the barest of regulation or scrutiny.

For some mysterious reason the light bulbs and toilets that you have in your home take precedence over the pain and suffering of hundreds of thousands of babies who die here annually.  We care more about lizards and owls than we do human beings.  We can’t even talk about it.

In June, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), minority speaker in the House, wouldn’t even entertain questions about what she calls the “sacred” practice of abortion.  In a press conference June 13, Pelosi had an exchange with a reporter from The Weekly Standard when he asked her to clarify her position on abortion in the wake of the Kermit Gosnell case.

CLIP:  Pelosi:  Late-term abortions “sacred”

The question was:  “What is the moral difference between what Dr. Gosnell did to a baby born alive at 23 weeks and aborting her moments before birth?”

“What was done in Philadelphia was reprehensible and everybody condemned it. For them to decide to disrespect a judgment a woman makes about her reproductive health is reprehensible,” she said. “Next question.”

When pressed for an answer, Pelosi pushed back harder, telling the reporter abortion should not be a political matter.

“As a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this. I don’t think it should have anything to do with politics. And that’s where you’re taking it and I’m not going there,”

That ridiculous statement got Pelosi in trouble with her own clergy in her own self-proclaimed religion of Catholicism.  Father Frank Pavone of the Catholic Church wrote an open letter to Nancy about her hypocrisy in touting herself as a Catholic while she pushes policy in direct contradiction to her own self-proclaimed religion.

Pavone’s Letter:

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

Dear Mrs. Pelosi,

Last Thursday, June 13, you were asked a question in a press briefing that you declined to answer. The question was, “What is the moral difference between what Dr. Gosnell did to a baby born alive at 23 weeks and aborting her moments before birth?”

Given the fact that the Gosnell case has been national news for months now, and that Congress, where you serve as House Democratic Leader, was about to have a vote on banning abortion after 20 weeks fetal age, this was a legitimate question.

Instead of even attempting to answer the question, you resorted to judgmental ad hominem attacks on the reporter who asked it, saying, “You obviously have an agenda. You’re not interested in having an answer.”

Mrs. Pelosi, the problem is that you’re not interested in giving an answer.

Your refusal to answer this question is consistent with your failure to provide an answer to a similar question from me and the members of my Priests for Life staff. Several years ago, we visited your office with the diagrams of dismemberment abortion at 23 weeks, and asked the simple question, “When you say the word ‘abortion,’ is this what you mean?” In response, nothing but silence has emanated from your office.

In what way is this refusal to address an issue of such national importance consistent with the leadership role you are supposed to be exercising? Public servants are supposed to be able to tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public. Apparently, you can’t. Otherwise, you would have been able to explain the difference between a legal medical procedure that kills a baby inside the womb and an act of murder — for which Dr. Gosnell is now serving life sentences — for killing the same baby outside the womb.

Moreover, you stated at the press briefing on June 13, “As a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this. I don’t think it should have anything to do with politics.”

With this statement, you make a mockery of the Catholic faith and of the tens of millions of Americans who consider themselves “practicing and respectful Catholics” and who find the killing of children — whether inside or outside the womb — reprehensible.

You speak here of Catholic faith as if it is supposed to hide us from reality instead of lead us to face reality, as if it is supposed to confuse basic moral truths instead of clarify them, and as if it is supposed to help us escape the hard moral questions of life rather than help us confront them.

Whatever Catholic faith you claim to respect and practice, it is not the faith that the Catholic Church teaches. And I speak for countless Catholics when I say that it’s time for you to stop speaking as if it were.

Abortion is not sacred ground; it is sacrilegious ground. To imagine God giving the slightest approval to an act that dismembers a child he created is offensive to both faith and reason.

And to say that a question about the difference between a legal medical procedure and murder should not “have anything to do with politics” reveals a profound failure to understand your own political responsibilities, which start with the duty to secure the God-given right to life of every citizen.

Mrs. Pelosi, for decades you have gotten away with betraying and misrepresenting the Catholic faith as well as the responsibilities of public office. We have had enough of it. Either exercise your duties as a public servant and a Catholic, or have the honesty to formally renounce them.

Sincerely,  Fr. Frank Pavone
National Director, Priests for Life   http://www.priestsforlife.org/pelosi/

Pelosi’s response to Father Pavone was to ridicule and scoff.

Pelosi to Priests:  My faith isn’t about what their position is:  http://www.lifenews.com/2013/06/25/pelosi-ridicules-letter-asking-her-to-condemn-abortion-or-renounce-catholicism/

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi is laughing off a letter from a top pro-life priest who is asking her to revise her pro-abortion position to make it conform to the pro-life teachings of the Catholic Church or to leave the Church.

In an interview with the liberal web site Think Progress, Pelosi attacked Pavone, calling him hysterical:

Whether this priest thinks his judgment should be another woman’s judgment is absolutely ridiculous to me. But nonetheless it’s what they say. I grant the Church where they are on abortion. That’s where they are, that’s where they have to be. But my faith isn’t about what their position is. My faith is about, Christ is my savior, the church is his church, and has nothing to do with Priests for Life…I wouldn’t even dignify whatever it is they said. It was a highly emotional statement that they made. If it were more intellectual I might have paid attention to it. He was acting hysterically.

Pelosi can’t even handle valid questions on her own self-proclaimed “sacred” subject, but she thinks Pavone is being emotional.

Pelosi claims not to be where the church is, not to follow Catholicism.  She herself claims the only thing her faith is about is Jesus Christ, which is indeed a Christian tenet, but that is not all it means to be a Catholic.  Catholics are Christians, Christians are not necessarily Catholics.  Pelosi uses a religious label, a doctrine that she does not believe and does not adhere to, as a justification for a stance that isn’t in keeping with the religion.  It’s a ploy to mask immoral policy and manipulate voters.  She does not vote on legislation in keeping with her so-called Catholic faith.

Justifying late-term abortion as a sacred right “as a practicing Catholic” is despicable.  This woman takes one of the most valued Catholic principles — protection of life, uses Catholicism to get elected, then subverts those very principles in her votes.

Isn’t it ironic that both religion and life, something most people consider sacred, is ignored by Nancy Pelosi in favor of what she declared sacred:  A woman’s right to kill her unborn baby.

No one ever wants to address the real violation of rights in abortion, which is the right of the baby to life.  We can’t talk about it.  We can’t discuss it.  We can’t regulate it.  We can’t scrutinize it – it is “sacred” to left-wingers.  So, while they can stomp all over religious freedom, foster the disgusting, unhealthy practices of Kermit Gosnell in abortion clinics, allow minors to make life and death decisions without even informing a parent – We can’t talk about it.  I hope Nancy Pelosi really is a Christian.  I mean, I doubt it, based on the fruit of her life, but I hope she is.  I look forward to the day she stands before God and has no choice but to answer the questions and face her hypocrisy.
